Robin completes 20 mile sponsored walk for the VPSG

Sponsored Walk: Dulwich to Enfield - 20 miles.
The day of the walk had arrived and the sun was shining, after days of cold wind and rain. I set off at 8.10am from where I live in Dulwich, South East London. I made my way towards Elephant & Castle and was overtaking everyone on the way! By the time I reached the Thames at Tower Bridge, an architectural marvel, I felt that I was really on my way!
I made my way through the City to Aldgate and from there it was really just one very long road which took me through Dalston, Stoke Newington, Clapton, Tottenham and by the time I reached Edmonton I was still feeling quite energetic. I had decided not to stop and sit down during the course of my journey but I did have water breaks. Jo-Ann phoned me at this point and was suprised that I had reached Edmonton so quickly (must have something to do with the raw food diet and Ethical Wares trainers!)
I continued up towards Ponders End and reached the junction at Southbury Road. While I was waiting to cross I noticed a couple of guys unloading a butchers van full of chopped up animals wrapped in cellophane. I thought about the horror, pain and misery that these animals had experienced at the slaughterhouse (a reminder of why we all need to contribute that little bit more to bring about an end to the appalling cruelty suffered by animals).
I had been walking for five hours and was probably about half an hour from my destination when my feet started to hurt. I turned the corner to where the VPSG office is situated to be met by a number of supporters that Jo-Ann had invited over and to be honest, I couldn't have walked any further!
Jo-Ann had prepared a fantastic, mostly raw meal and Hella, a friend of Jo-Ann's gave me an unexpected foot massage which was a welcome relief.
I would like to thank Jo-Ann and the VPSG volunteers who do an invaluable job supporting animal liberation prisoners, and everyone who sponsored the walk.
Robin.
